F-Troop Grant Writing Workshop/Spring 2016

Date: Every Wednesday

Time: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Location: MED 331.5B, Pathology Conference Room

What: This hands-on writing workshop targeted to pre- and postdoctoral trainees who are preparing an application for an individual NRSA Fellowship (F Awards including F30, F31, or F32) for submission to the NIH. Equivalent fellowship applications to other funding agencies are also encompassed by this program.

Spotlight on Research Integrity: Mistakes Scientists Make

What: The presenter is Jonathan M. Berman, Ph.D. He will discuss how scientists are subject to the same cognitive biases and mistakes in thinking as any other human, and will spotlight historic and contemporary examples of science gone wrong, pseudo-science, smart people believing in fairies and the abuse of statistics.

2016 IIMS Community Engagement Symposium

What: The topic is “Engaging Patients, Families, and Communities in All Phases of Translational Research.” The plenary speaker will be Arthur Kaufman, M.D., vice chancellor for health at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. Open to community members, students, healthcare practitioners, and investigators interested in community and academic research partnerships.

San Antonio Military Health System and Universities Research Forum
