Lora Watts is an assistant professor at the Department of Cellular and Structural Biology
and the Research Imaging Institute at the University of Texas Health Science
Center at San Antonio.
The focus of her
laboratory is in developing and implementing in vitro and in vivo
methods to detect neurodegeneration and neuroprotection following traumatic
brain injury and stroke.
Her specific interests are:1) assessment of neuroprotection and
neurodegeneration in relation to traumatic brain injury and stroke; 2) imaging
techniques for in vivo assessment of traumatic brain injury and stroke; and 3)
behavioral assessment of functional recovery following traumatic brain injury
and stroke. The lab utilizes cellular, molecular and whole animal approaches to
delineate novel treatment options for traumatic brain injury and stroke
